Anniversaries, Awards, and a Night That Reminded Us Why We Do This
At Excel Courier, success has never been measured only by growth or expansion.
It’s measured by the people who show up every day, take ownership of their work, and help move this company forward.
At this year’s State of Excel event, we had the opportunity to pause and celebrate exactly that. This year, in particular, was extra special as we had the privilege of celebrating a major milestone: Excel Courier’s 40th anniversary.
More than 100 employees, drivers, families, friends, and legacy team members joined us for an evening dedicated to the people who have shaped Excel Courier over the past four decades.
From milestone anniversaries to annual awards and a well-earned retirement, the night was a reminder of something our CEO, Chris Marchetti, often says:
The best part of this business has always been the people.
What Is the State of Excel Event?
The State of Excel is an annual gathering where the Excel Courier team reflects on the past year and celebrates the people who make the company what it is.
The event brings together:
- Employees
- Independent contractor drivers
- Families and friends
- Former team members who helped build Excel Courier
It’s a chance to step away from the day-to-day operations and recognize the individuals whose commitment keeps the company moving forward.
Celebrating Excel Courier’s 40-Year Anniversary
This year, we had the opportunity to celebrate two 40-year anniversaries at once. Excel Courier began 40 years ago when Chris Marchetti founded the company with a simple goal: to provide a reliable, time-critical courier service that customers could truly depend on.
Like many companies that stand the test of time, Excel Courier started small, with hard work, long days, and a commitment to doing the job right every single time.
One of the people who joined during those earliest days was John Uno, who helped build the operational foundation that allowed the company to grow.
Leadership and dedication helped transform a small courier operation into the Mid-Atlantic regional logistics provider Excel Courier is today.
Celebrating Long-Term Commitment at Excel Courier
One of the most meaningful parts of the evening was recognizing team members who have dedicated years—and in some cases decades—of their careers to Excel Courier.
20-Year Anniversaries
Two decades of service represents thousands of deliveries, challenges solved, and relationships built.
Stephanie Grant, COO: Stephanie credits her growth and success to the support of those around her. With mentorship and trust from CEO Chris Marchetti, a collaborative operations team, and her own dedication to continuous improvement, she has grown into a strong leader at Excel Courier. - Tim Pegus II, Logistics Warehouse Lead: Tim has been a steady and reliable presence at Excel, successfully contributing across several roles over the years. He has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to both personal and professional growth.
10-Year Anniversary
A decade of service reflects consistency, reliability, and a commitment to excellence.

Patrick Cabellos, Dispatcher: From Client Services to Driver Recruitment and Dispatch, Patrick has worn many hats over the past decade. He’s always been willing to step in where needed while maintaining a high standard of work. A proud family man, Patrick brings genuine passion to everything he does.
As Patrick said, "I enjoy showing up to work every day because of you all."
These milestones reflect something we’re incredibly proud of: people choose to build long careers here.
Celebrating Beau’s Retirement
Another meaningful moment from the evening was recognizing Beau, our longtime driver, for his retirement after an incredible career with Excel Courier.
Last year, we held a huge celebration honoring Beau’s 30-year anniversary. This year, Beau returned for a different kind of milestone—his well-earned retirement.
Beau brought his entire family with him, and they took the stage to share some of the best—and funniest—stories of the night. One memorable story involved Beau getting pulled over… by his own son, who happens to be a police officer.
It was a fitting way to celebrate someone who has spent decades bringing dedication and heart to the Excel team.
Beau, thank you for everything you’ve contributed over the years. We wish you the very best in retirement.
Who Won Employee of the Year at Excel Courier?
Each year, Excel Courier recognizes team members who surpass expectations in their roles, honoring those who embody the 'Excel Way'.
Employee of the Year – Courier Division

Ryan Nguyen, Driver Manager: Ryan represents the professionalism and dependability our drivers and clients rely on every day. He approaches his work with urgency, respect, and preparation, staying steady under pressure and solving problems without seeking recognition—though he certainly deserves it.
Employee of the Year –
Logistics Solutions Division
Mike Duarte, Solutions Coordinator. Mike has played a critical role in supporting the growth of our Excel Logistics Solutions division, helping clients navigate complex logistics challenges.
Although he’s been with Excel Courier for over a decade, his impact on the Solutions team has been especially significant. Since joining the department, Mike has been instrumental in shaping how we serve our customers and elevating the level of expertise we bring to the work.
Employee of the Year – Logistics Warehouse Division
Brady West, Logistics Warehouse Manager. Brady’s work behind the scenes ensures operations run smoothly and customers receive the service they expect from Excel Courier.
He runs a strong warehouse, takes care of his team, and leads by example. During the recent snowstorm, Brady spent the entire weekend in the warehouse making sure everything kept moving. He endured the thick of it without hesitation.
Brady had this to say about the recognition:
“There’s a lot of good competition here, so for me to be honored is really special. From day one, when the team accepted me, I felt like I wanted to do my best to keep up with everyone here. Everyone at this company does a great job—from the top down.”
Independent Contractor of the Year
Alfred Jessup. Mr. Jessup consistently shows up, takes pride in his work, and represents the standard of reliability and professionalism our clients expect.
Our drivers represent Excel Courier on the road every day. The responsibility they carry is significant, and their consistency and dedication are a big reason we are where we are today. We’re incredibly grateful for the long hours and commitment they bring to the job.
Why Employee Recognition Matters in Logistics
In industries like courier services, logistics, and time-critical transportation, the work can move fast and often happens behind the scenes.
Recognizing employees and drivers helps reinforce what matters most:
- Quality: We are thorough and accurate, consistently monitoring our work.
- Customer Service: We respond quickly, with professionalism and focus, welcoming feedback to improve our performance.
- Teamwork: We balance team and individual responsibilities and are open to the views of others.
- Accountability: We take responsibility for our actions and commit to doing the best job possible. We give and accept advice as an opportunity to grow.
At Excel Courier, these values have helped sustain the company for nearly four decades.
A Night That Reminded Us Why Excel Courier Exists
Seeing over 100 people in one room—employees, drivers, families, and those who helped build Excel from the very beginning—was a powerful reminder of how far the company has come.
But more importantly, it reminded us who made that journey possible.
To everyone who has been part of the Excel story over the years:
Thank you for the work you do, the pride you bring to it, and the role you’ve played in helping Excel Courier grow and evolve.
Because at the end of the day, this company has always been about one thing.
The people.
