Corner Office Update: Driver Appreciation Week 2020

The week of September 13th is driver appreciation week. This gives companies like ours around the country a time to recognize our drivers. We will be doing things to show our appreciation for their dedication, commitment and continued efforts.

In the best of times these men and women have to work hard and deal with plenty of challenges. They have to deal with the ebb and flow of work volumes. They have to keep their vehicles up and running. They have to deal with traffic, weather and finding places to park. In our case, they have to be knowledgeable of all the different customer requirements and procedures and, as you know, there are plenty. And we need them 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year. Whew!!!

Not only that, but now they have had to adjust to the challenges of COVID. Unlike many people they don’t have the option to work remotely from their homes. They have had to continue working while the protocols for dealing with the pandemic change week to week, day to day and even hour to hour. Our drivers are truly remarkable and dedicated professionals and we are fortunate to be working with them.

I believe every day of every week of every month should be the time to show driver appreciation. If they weren’t out there people wouldn’t be getting their important deliveries taken care of. There would be no medicine, no lab samples, no auto parts getting to the folks that need them…just to mention some of the important things we bring to people.

So, I hope that you will join me and remember to appreciate those folks who are out on the streets taking care of business each and every day. And not just next month but every day.
